Lisa McMillan

Guilford County Commissioner District 7

Taking Action. Getting Results.

Picture
My roots are planted deep in Guilford County. I was born and raised in the city limits of Greensboro. After getting married, I raised my family in Gibsonville and McLeansville. All of my five children and myself, matriculated through the Guilford County School System. My youngest child is currently a junior in the Guilford County Schools System. I woke up with my why!

Throughout my adult life, I have served children and families as a school and city bus driver, held several leadership roles with the GCS PTA, Guilford Child Development Policy Council, multiple years as Little League team mom, class mom, as well as providing childcare for hundreds of families for many years, before becoming a community advocate and working in the nonprofit sector.

School Safety and security are first. Guilford County Schools students and families deserve a safe and secure learning environment! Our children should be protected from…
-Overcrowded Classrooms
-Crumbling, unsafe Buildings

Our kids need
-
Safe, reliable transportation to and from school
-
Safe and secure buildings
Professionals in education, should be paid a livable wage.
Teachers should be paid a competitive salary and not need a second or third job to make ends meet.

Bus drivers should be paid as professionals and offered permanent, full-time employment to support a stable lifestyle.

County Employees should not be amongst the working poor, serving our community. We can not contribute to the problems plaguing our society; being overworked and under paid.

Make sure our citizens are well informed
We must follow the funds that are allocated to other entities to provide services and support.
-Making sure GCS spends the money we allocate for a project, on that project
-Keep citizens up to date with incremental progress reports
-We must utilize all forms of communication: Television, print, radio, social media, phone, text and emails
-Connect with community organizations to better serve all people

We Need...
-Efficient and Effective Support Systems
-To Streamline Service Request
-Clear, Simple, Easy to Find Information
I have know Ms. Lisa McMillan for many years. She gave me my first job as a daycare assistant over 20 years ago. For as long as I have known her, she has helped people get answers to questions or help in with a situation. Lisa has and will go above and beyond to serve people.
